The Norwegian town of Lillehammer is hosting the Winter Youth Olympic Games on February 12-21. More than 1,000 athletes are taking part in them, among whom two Moldovans, IPN reports.
Leonardo Cepoi will compete in sledding, while Cristian Bocancea in 10 km and sprint sky racing. The events at the competition include biathlon, ice hockey, skiing and other winter sports. Olympic champion Larisa Popova heads Moldova’s squad at the Winter Youth Olympic Games this year.
The first Summer Youth Olympic Games were held in Singapore in 2010, while the first Winter Youth Olympic Games took place in Innsbruck in 2012.
