Two boys, aged 7 and 8, were saved from drowning on Thursday, February 13, after falling under the ice crust of a pond in Valea Trandafirilor Park. The children were walking on the ice without supervision, IPN reports.

Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Service Diana Turcan said that the boys were warned by nearby safeguards to stay off the frozen lake. However, the kids ignored them and went forward on the pond. The thin ice crust cracked and they fell under it. Fortunately, the incident was spotted in time and they were taken out of water and provided with first aid. None of them needed hospitalization.

The Civil Protection and Emergency Service warns those taking care of children to prevent them from playing near or on frozen lakes. In 2014, six persons were saved from drowning.
