A drinking party in a Chisinau house ended in a double stabbing on Sunday night. Anatol Proca, doctor coordinator at the Chisinau Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the men, aged 30, and both in a state of advanced drunkenness, had been stabbed – one to the abdomen and the second to the left side of the chest – after the party turned sour. The victims were transported to the Emergency Hospital in critical condition. The case is handled by the police. On Sunday day and night, the Emergency Service received 739 calls, responding to 87 cases of acute viral diseases, 3 brain strokes and 52 cases of mumps. Two pedestrians have been hospitalized after suffering injuries in the traffic accidents occurred in the capital on Sunday. According to Road Safety Inspector Ion Roscovanu, the first accident happened at 14:00 near the intersection of Decebal Blvd and Zelinski Str. A Volkswagen, driven by a 28-year-old man, struck a male pedestrian of the same age. The pedestrian ended up in hospital with head trauma. At around 22:00 a 54-year-old man was stricken by a Mercedes van while attempting to cross Calea Mosilor str. With fractures of the left shank, the man was transported to hospital. On Sunday, traffic agents fined 44 persons for drunk-driving, 105 for speeding, and 13 for driving at red. Over the past day and night, eight fires were recorded in the country. As Liliana Puscasu of the Firefighters and Rescuers Department told Info-Prim Neo, the most damaging fire occurred in the village of Bursuc in Nisporeni district, destroying belongings valued at 80,000 lei. Apparently the cause of the fire was a defective electrical appliance. The wood insulation layer of a steam-house in Danceni village, Ialoveni, caught fire after the sauna got overheated. The damages haven’t been estimated yet. In Lupa Rece village, Straseni, children playing with matches set a farm building on fire. Since the beginning of March, there have been recorded 137 fires in the country, with a death toll of 16.
