Two men killed in house fires

Two men from Calarasi and Donduseni districts died from carbon monoxide poisoning, while two children aged 7 and 9 were admitted to the hospital after they inhaled gas emitted by a faulty stove. Firefighters warn the population to carefully use the stoves and to respect the anti-fire rules.
Diana Turcan, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that a 38-year-old man from Hoginesti village, Calarasi, was killed in a fire caused by a defective stove in an annex. The flames destroyed two rooms.
The second case happened in Corbu, Donduseni. A man aged 69 poisoned with fumes from a mattress that allegedly caught fire from a smoldering cigarette.
The about 100 fires that happened last winter as a result of the incorrect use of stoves caused 42 deaths. Three of the victims were children. Eleven persons have been killed in fires in Moldova so far this year.
