Two men killed in grenade explosion

Two men died in an explosion after one of them set off a grenade. Dorina Cruc, the spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the incident happened in Corlateni village of Rascani district on Sunday, September 13. After drinking alcohol, two neighbors aged 47 got into a quarrel, which degenerated into a fight. One of them exploded a grenade that he held illegally. They were killed in the explosion, which resounded all over the village. The two men were frequently seen drinking alcohol together with another three drinking companions. When the tragedy happened, they also were under the influence of alcohol. The grenade dated from the 1992 Nistru armed conflict. Another explosion occurred in a plum drying plant in Barboieni village of Nisporeni district also on Sunday. A gas leak caused an explosion. The owner of the plant received burns of the third degree on the hands and face in the explosion and was rushed to the district hospital. The police are investigating the cases.
