Two men arrested for influence peddling

Two men were arrested on suspicion of traffic of influence. They asked for US$184,000 from an economic entity for influencing officials of the Chisinau City Hall to help it purchase two plots of land in the capital city, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime. The two said they have influence over officials of IS “Cadastru” and divisions of the City Hall and the Municipal Council and over the mayor general and can make them validate the documents and favor the sale of the two plots situated at 15 Circului St and 11 Dimo St. The two plots occupy 41 ares and cost €4,500 per are. One of the suspects was caught in the act of taking US$15,000 from the legal entity. The money marked ‘bribe’ represented the first tranche of the total sum. The second man was arrested in several hours. They will be under arrest for 72 hours. Legal action was taken against them over influence peddling.
