Two men were arrested by the police on suspicion that they dispossessed a person of identification papers for an invented debt and extorted by €300 from the victim by use of violence and death threats, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the suspects are aged 39 and, respectively, 50. One of them manages a taxi company in the municipality of Chisinau, while the other one works as a taxi driver. The latter earlier served time in jail for different offenses.
At the start of March, a man aged 36 told the police about the actions taken by the two. The victim said the two men invented a debt on the termination of the work contract, for damaging one of the company’s cars. The suspects went to the victim’s home and, threatening him with death, extorted by €300 from him.
If they are found guilty, the suspects will serve five to seven years in jail and will be fined 42,500 to 67,500 lei.
