Two inhabitants of the village Bacioi of municipality Chisinau were wounded on Sunday, 26 February, near the bus station of the village, as result of unauthorised hunting of homeless dogs.
The mayor of the village Bacioi, Ion Bivol, said at the Monday operative meeting of the mayoralty of municipality Chisinau, that the accident have happened in his presence and the hunters were moving towards the rubbish of the village to shoot the homeless dogs. One of the hunters made a very impulsive action while seeing a homeless dog near the bus station, without that the other members of group could impede him to commit the offence. According to mayor, it was shot towards the dog, but the small shot ricochet in asphalt, being wounded, by accident, those two women.
The deputy commissioner of municipality Chisinau, Petru Corduneanu, noted that 15 inhabitants of the village formed this group of hunters. They got trained in the fight against homeless dogs without having a licence in this sense. In the interest of the investigation, the hunter’s name, who was guilty of wounding these women was not disclosed, but it was noted that he would be investigated.
In the same time, the deputy commissioner highlighted that in order to solve the problem of homeless dogs of the municipality it should be revised the legal framework, including setting if they can be shot. Concomitantly, the head of the district Centru, Edward Iaroszewski, mentioned that to solve this issue it is not necessary to shoot the dogs. According to him, there are more civilised ways, including to immobilise them tranquillisers, and than to transport them to specialised centres of sheltering homeless dogs.
Those two women, aged 42 and 53, were hospitalised at the Emergency Hospital of Chisinau. The doctor, Gheorghe Manea, of the traumatology section, said that one of women is hospitalised with 5 wounds on both parts of supra-orbital places (over the eyes), on right forearm and thigh. She is stable at the moment. The other one refused to be hospitalised, even she has suffered a non-penetrating wound in the region of the chest.
