Two Ialoveni residents injured in gas explosion

A gas cylinder went off in a summer kitchen, injuring two persons. The spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Dorina Cruc has told Info-Prim Neo that the explosion occurred in Ulmu village of Ialoveni district on Monday at about 17.30. For unknown reasons, the summer kitchen and the veranda of the house took fire, causing the explosion of the gas cylinder. As a result, two men suffered different injuries, cranial-cerebral traumas and burns of the second degree. They were taken to the Emergency Hospital in Chisinau. Two men drowned on Sunday. A 40-year-old man drowned in a pond near Zgurita village of Drochia district at approximately 16.00. In about half an hour, a man aged 49 disappeared in the waters of a pond located not far from Popestii de Sus village of the same district. The villagers tried to find the bodies, but all in vain. The corpses were taken out on Monday by frogmen. As many as 1,273 fires have happened in Moldova this year. They resulted in 96 deaths. One of the victims was a minor. July saw 96 fires that claimed two deaths. Thirty-three persons have drowned this month. Nine out of them were minors. The waters this year took the lives of 101 persons, including 20 minors.
