A man aged 28 and a woman of the same age were admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute in Chisinau after they sustained injuries in an accident on the Chisinau-Orhei road on February 21. As a result of the impact, one of the cars involved in the accident caught fire and firemen were called to extinguish it.

Spokesman for the Emergency Medicine Institute Petru Cravet has told IPN that the man, who drove one of the two cars involved in the accident, sustained femur and thigh fractures and will be operated. He is in intensive care, but is conscious.

The second driver was also taken to the hospital. This was diagnosed with head trauma and face and ear injuries, but he will receive ambulatory treatment. His sister was admitted to the Surgery Secretion with spleen injury. Her state of health is stable.

PR officials of the Orhei Police Inspectorate said the accident occurred when one of the cars that was heading for Chisinau slid on ice at a turn and, moving to the contraflow lane, collided head-on with another vehicle that skidded off the road and started to burn.
