Two girls claim that one their teachers abused them sexually. Ombudswoman Tamara Plamadeala says that an investigation was started and that the accused teacher is a member of one of the ruling coalition parties, Info-Prim Neo reports. The ombudswoman said in a press release that the party members collected signatures in support of the teacher and that the girls received threatening phone calls. Tamara Plamadeala says that she notified the Ministry of Education, demanding the employees of the district education division to be punished for negligence on duty and a disciplinary process to be started against those who admitted the violation of the child’s rights. The ombudswoman says that in such a situation, the children needed immediate psychological counseling and their defamation had to be put to an end. The press service of the Ministry of Education told Info-Prim Neo that it didn’t receive the ombudswoman’s notification and was unable to comment on it. The Orhei district education division denied receiving any complaint or official notification about sexual abuse. The same source informs that at the time of the alleged incident, the classes were being distributed between teachers in the respective school. Although Tamara Plamadeala says that the Prosecutor General’s Office was notified as well, the institution’s press service denied it.
