The landslides in Climauţii de Jos village of Soldanest district are extending and threatening the homes. Contacted by IPN, the village’s mayor Sergiu Melnic said measures are being taken to evacuate two families whose houses are exposed to the risk of being buried beneath landslides.
The two families will be moved to houses that will be bought for them with money from the Government’s reserve fund, said the mayor.
A special commission for examining the situation in the village was set up in October, on the instructions of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. Specialists established that the upper part of the village will also be affected by landslides.
Earlier, another two houses in the risk area were covered by masses of earth. The affected families were moved to other houses, purchased by the local administration.
