Two doctors succumb to COVID-19

Two doctors died after developing complications caused by COVID-19, even if the last tests showed they didn’t have the virus, IPN reports.

Liudmila Smirnova, 65, had worked at the Mother and Child Institute for 35 years. She was admitted to the National Clinical Hospital with COVID-19 on July 20 and on August 12 tested negative for the virus.

Ion Vasilache, 78, managed the Rudi National Center in Soroca district. He was admitted to the Soroca District Hospital on September 22 and on September 23 tested negative.

Besides the two deaths, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection today announced 12 more deaths from COVOD-19. The death toll now stands at 1,301.

Another 319 cases of infection were confirmed today, with the total number of infections exceeding 51,000.

As many as 710 patients with COVID-19 are in a serious state and 36 of them were put on a ventilator.
