Two Decorations for Mr. President for His Birthday

The president of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, was decorated by his Ukainian counterpart Victor Iuscenko, with the Medal of Cneaz Iaroslav Mudrii ( Iaroslav the Wise) of I degree and by the Metropolitan bishop of Chisinau and Moldova Vladimir with the Medal of “The Saint Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” of I degree. The head of state was offered these decorations on the 65th anniversary of his birthday. According to the Presidency Press Service, the state decoration of Ukraine was offered to the Moldovan president for “his special, substantial contribution to the development of the Moldovan-Ukrainian relationships”, and the highest church decoration from Moldova was conferred to the head of state “as a gratitude for the prodigious activity for the well-being of the Orthodox Church of Moldova”. The head of state was congratulated by the Personnel of the Presidency, the former heads of state Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi, MPs, members of the Government, the Metropolitan bishop of Chisinau and of Moldova, representatives of the embassies accredited in the Republic of Moldova, local public administration bodies, public organizations, and private persons. The MPs, congratulated the president at the Parliament’s sitting. Vladimir Voronin was born on May 25, 1941 in Corjova village, Dubasari. He entered political life in 1985, being appointed as first-secretary of the Bender city Committee of the Communist Party of Moldova. In 1989 and 1990 he held the position of RSSM Interior Minister. In 1998 he was elected as MP. Vladimir Voronin holds presidency from April 4, 2001.
