Two bodies were discovered by firefighters in the apartment engulfed in flames on the 17th floor of the "Romanita" residential building. The information was confirmed to IPN by the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu. The identities of the individuals are yet to be determined. The heightened intervention level has been lifted, and firefighters are carrying out washing and dismantling operations.

Initial Report: A fire broke out this evening in an apartment on the 17th floor of the well-known "Romanita" residential building in the capital. Nine fire trucks, including an aerial ladder, were dispatched to the scene. At this time, no victims have been reported.

Contacted by IPN, Liliana Puscasu, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, stated that firefighters were called to extinguish a fire under the heightened intervention level in Chisinau. The emergency call to 112 was received at 5:34 PM.

"According to the received information, dense smoke was observed coming from the stairwell of a multi-story residential building on Nicolae Testemițanu Street, 29/2. Intervention teams were dispatched to the scene in accordance with Emergency Level 2. The fire engulfed an apartment on the 17th floor. Rescuers evacuated several people from the 18th floor to prevent them from inhaling toxic combustion products," Liliana Puscasu specified.

The fire has been localized, and 72 IGSU employees, with nine firefighting units, including the aerial ladder, are working at the scene to fully extinguish the flames, with two battle sectors established.

The cause and circumstances of the fire are not yet known.
