Two bids were submitted at the tender contest to purchases buses for the municipality of Chisinau, acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu announced by a post on Facebook. He said the deadline for submitting bids expired, IPN reports.
“After 13 years of expectation, the inhabitants of the capital city will now travel by new buses,”’ Ruslan Codreanu wrote.
The municipality intends to spend 80 million lei on buying 31 buses. The money was earmarked in the 2019 municipal budget.
The Chisinau Urban Bus Company manages 22 municipal routes with 95 units of transport. According to the municipality, the current fare of 3 lei for a trip was approved in 2009, but the real cost, according to updated calculations, is 11 lei. The different is covered by the municipality that annually allocates 115 million lei for the purpose.
