The dwellers of two apartment buildings situated on Mihai Eminescu St in Vatra town of Chisinau municipality, who a week ago were disconnected from the supply of heat, are still not provided with heat.
Mayor of Vatra Ion Bobeica has told IPN that he tried this week to discuss with the supplier and even sent a letter to it, asking that the dwellers should be reconnected, but the company insists that the dwellers should form an association with which to sign a contract. Under the legislation, the supplier can sign direct contracts with the dwellers, but it avoids doing so.
Ion Bobeica also said that the company invokes unsettled debts, which turned out to total about 10,000 lei for both of the buildings, not 60 million lei as it was earlier asserted. The dwellers were offered assistance in creating an association, but they did nothing so far.
Contacted by IPN, deputy mayor of Chisinau municipality in charge of heat supply Vlad Cotet said the dwellers of the two buildings must form an association of dwellers with which the supplier would sign a contract. Also, the dwellers with debts should repay them.
The two apartment buildings were built by a state-owned company controlled by the Ministry of the Environment, which later gave up managing the two-story blocks with 16 apartments each. The dwellers now heat themselves with electrical heaters and other devices.
