The twinning agreement with the capital city of Russia will be updated and approved in the nearest future, mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban, who is in Moscow on a working visited, announced on his Facebook page, being quoted by IPN.

According to the mayor, such an agreement was reached as a result of discussions with the Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of Moscow Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations Sergey Cheryomin.

The additional cooperation agreement provides that projects and programs in a number of development areas, starting with expertise and exchange of experience and ending with assistance in infrastructure, transport, social, education and other spheres, will be implemented during the next three years.

Ion Ceban said the Government of Moscow will soon donate tens of vehicles and pieces of equipment for snow removal and cleanup works to Chisinau. “Moscow is currently among the top cities with sustainable development by sectors, from security, infrastructure to electronic governance,” stated the mayor.

The Chisinau councilors on January 16 approved a draft decision concerning the additional cooperation agreement to the Twining Protocol signed by the Chisinau City Hall and the Bucharest City Hall on November 4, 1999. In this connection, Valery Klimenko, councilor of the Shor Party, asked that the City Hall should extend the similar cooperation agreements with Moscow, Kiev or Minsk.
