A number of 20 schools will be liquidated before the start of the new 2017-2018 school year, Deputy Minister of Education Lilia Pogolsa announced in Parliament, IPN reports.
According to the deputy minister, the insufficient number of children makes the good functioning of the education institutions that are to be closed impossible. “The Ministry of Education is looking for ways to keep the schools in rural areas as the schools are not only sources of knowledge, but also of life given that the villages and young families are affected there where the schools are closed,” stated Lilia Pogolsa.
The Ministry of Education will formulate a proposal to create branches of education institutions in villages. Through these, it will be possible to keep the primary or secondary stages of education. But the final decision will be taken by the district council.
