TV Moldova International stops broadcasting via satellite

The Broadcasting Coordination Council unanimously voted for withdrawing the broadcast license issued to the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” for TV Moldova International channel that broadcast trough satellite, Info-Prim Neo reports. Attending the Council’s February 15 meeting, director of the public TV channel Moldova 1 Mircea Surdu said the request was made following the change of the platform of TV Moldova International, which will no longer broadcast via satellite, but only through the Internet. Mircea Surdu said that 97% of TV Moldova International’s programs are products of Moldova 1 channel and thus a change was necessary. The channel was launched in January 2007 and at that moment represented a method of communicating with the Moldovan diaspora abroad. In the same meeting, the Broadcasting Coordination Council warned publicly the radio station “Ploaia de argint” for not using all the frequencies is possesses.
