Turkish plastic surgeons to operate children in Moldova

A group of surgeons from the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Turkish Kocaeli University’s Medical Faculty will operate a number of kids in Moldova. A year ago, on May 29-June 2, 2006, the same doctors operated 18 children in Moldova between 3 and 18 years of age. At that point, 45 patients underwent medical examination aimed at removing various congenital malformations, or those got following trauma. This time, in the period from June 24 to 30, the Turkish doctors, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Deniz Iscen, PhD of Medicine, will perform a medical examination of the former and new patients, and will also perform a new series of surgeries. During the operations, they will use Turkish surgical instruments and expenditures. The Ankara surgeons will share their knowledge, skills and experience with their Moldovan colleagues. The operations are performed within a project worked out by the Turkish International Development and Cooperation Agency (TIKA), in cooperation with the “Interplast” Association of the Turkish Plastic Surgeons.
