Turkey is against the proliferation of nuclear arms and expects Iran will prove that its nuclear program is peaceful in character, it is said in a Note that was read by Turkey's Ambassador in Chisinau Ahmet Ferit Ülker on June 16, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Note says that Turkey together with Brazil voted against the UN Security Council's decision on the new sanctions imposed on Iran as the opportunity of solving the problem of Iran's nuclear program peacefully should not be undermined. Turkey considers the program should not be supported unconditionally, but there should be adopted a long-term position.
At the same time, Turkey says the sides involved in the talks should continue the dialogue, using all the diplomatic possibilities In the Note, Turkey stresses that it did not want Iran to take an attitude of confrontation to the detriment of the regional stability, in particular in Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan. It expresses its hope that Iran will continue to respect the Teheran Joint Statement that was signed by Turkey, Brazil and Iran on May 17 and will be transparent in its acts.
Turkey recognizes the right of the states that signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to do research and produce and use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, it is said in the Note on Iran's nuclear program.
