The Turkish delegation accepted a series of concessions for Moldovan agrifood products. The issue was discussed in the third round of talks on the Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and Turkey, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Economy.
If the agreement is accepted in the current form, the Moldovan companies will be able to export pork, butter, pressed cheese, grain, juices and wine to Turkey duty-free, within the agreed quotas. The customs duty imposed by Turkey on such Moldovan products as walnuts, bakery products and unprocessed tobacco will be halved.
The third round of talks on the Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and Turkey took place in Chisinau. Moldova negotiated a list of industrial products made in Turkey the customs duties on which will be progressively eliminated within a transition period of 10 years. The customs duties on the import of textiles, building materials, footwear, carpets, cosmetics, furniture, jewels from precious metals and other articles into Moldova will be maintained.
The final list of concessions will be agreed in the next round of talks that will be held in Ankara in October.
The Moldovan-Turkish Free Trade Agreement envisions the elimination of the import duties and any taxes with equivalent effect on the products made in Moldova and Turkey. The signing of the agreement is a precondition imposed by the EU on Moldova for ensuring the country’s economic integration into the European area by signing the Agreement on the Creation of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Moldova and the EU.
