The Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate for President Tudor Deliu started his election campaign in the company of the party’s team in his native village Malcoci, of Ialoveni district. The president of the PLDM Vlad Filat was among those who supported him, IPN reports.
Tudor Deliu said he meditated a lot when his colleagues proposed him for President as holding the presidency for him is not a goal in itself, but is a great honor and also a big responsibility. “I decided to run for President because the Republic I see today is not the one I want us to transmit to our children and grandchildren. Our state does not have the borders for which we fought with arms in our hands in 1992,” stated the candidate.
According to him, a good President should know the people and should represent the country’s people with dignity, while the political program of a President is the Constitution according to which the power belongs to the people.
Tudor Deliu said that if he is elected President, he will not allow the public order to be disturbed with motorcades with yelling sirens and will not accept a guard with tens of bodyguards as he would not like to be protected from those who elected him. As the head of state, he would fulfill his duties in accordance with the constitutional provisions. He pledged to defend democracy, the basic human rights and freedoms, to guarantee national sovereignty, to act filmy so as to restore the unity and territorial integrity of Moldova, to ensure the observance of the rights of national minorities, to consult the people about the most important problems of society.
The candidate also said that he will support and strengthen political pluralism, will strictly respect the principle of separation of powers in the state, will efficiently promote citizens’ interests by legislative proposals, will support authentic reforms in the justice sector aimed at ensuring the rule of law, will promote competent, incorrupt and incorruptible prosecutors and judges, will ensure the implementation of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement.
“Tudor Deliu has all the qualities needed by a good President for the people of this republic. He can serve as a reference point for those involved in politics in general. I’m proud that Tudor Deliu forms part of the PLDM’s family,” stated the president of the party Vlad Filat.
