The method of participation by the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) in the upcoming parliamentary elections will be decided in the November 11 meeting of the party’s National Political Council. In the talk show “Forth power” on N4 channel, the party’s president Tudor Deliu said the Party “Action and Solidarity” and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” invited the PLDM to delegate several persons to be put on the common list of candidates of the electoral bloc that will be formed by the two parties, but the Lib-Dems haven’t yet decided what to do, IPN reports.

“Under our statutes, the method of taking part in elections is decided by the Council. We invited the two parties (PAS and PPDA, e.n.) to take part in the meeting because I, as the party’s president, cannot assume a decision for the party,” stated Tudor Deliu.

According to him, the fact that the PLDM forms part of the National Resistance Movement “Acum”, but wasn’t invited to form part of the electoral bloc as a fully-fledged member can be called ‘sting’, but the discussions go on. “The announcement of these arrangements does not mean creation of the electoral bloc. This bloc hasn’t been created officially. A bloc is formed in accordance with the Election Code’s provisos and is registered with the Central Election Commission,” stated the leader of the PLDM.

“The PAS and PPDA suggested delegating several persons to be put on their common list. We are not afraid of filters as the PLDM was filtered out. Today the Liberal Democratic Party consists of persons who resisted the pressure exerted on them. Those who didn’t have a clear conscience left the party and remained upright. Sincerely, the participation with only several persons on the list, without being a component member of the bloc, means the PLDM is not an electoral contender. If you are not an electoral contender, you cannot enjoy too many legal prerogatives even when entering Parliament.”

Tudor Deliu said he will have a meeting with the leaders of the PAS and PPDA Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase next week to consider the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu’s proposal to sit at the negotiating table and identity common candidates for single-member constituencies.

According to him, now a political party cannot win a majority of seats of MP. The discussions after the elections will be the most important ones.

Tudor Deliu also said that he hasn’t decided if he personally will run in the parliamentary elections or not.
