The truth about the theft committed at Banca de Economii (BEM) will be fully discovered only if the political elite is replaced. Such statements were made by invitees to the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
Director of the Market Research Institute Roman Chirca considers that there is no political will for elucidating this case. “There is a lot of information and the truth could have been discovered in a week or two. But Parliament didn’t show political will for this to happen. It is also the result of the politicization of the state institutions. Our political elites do not want this case to be correctly elucidated,” he stated.
Political analyst Roman Mihaes also believes that the authorities do not want this case to be correctly investigated. “The value of the fraud is about 30 billion lei. The statute of limitations for such crimes is 25 years. I hope that the political elites will be changed in 4-8 years and all the persons involved in this swindle, including those who hid it, will serve time in jail,” he said.
Economic analyst Viorel Girbu said the political elite hampers the investigation of the theft committed at the BEM. “To find out the truth, the political elite should be replaced. They cannot investigate themselves,” he stated.
