The circulation of heavy vehicles on the streets of Chisinau municipality, with asphalt concrete road surfaces, is prohibited on days with temperatures of over 30°C. The restrictions concern trucks that are heavier than 20 tonnes. The travel limitation interval is valid between 10.00 and 20.00, the head of the General Urban Mobility Division Vitalie Mihalache announced in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.

Vitalie Mihalache said that the National Public Security Inspectorate and all the competent authorities, especially the National Auto Transport Agency, are requested to become involved and supervise the unauthorized circulation of heavy transport on the roads covered with asphalt mixture on the territory of Chisinau City.

The official noted that the measure is taken in a bid to protect and not to allow the degradation of the asphalt layer as huge investments from the municipal budget are later needed for the restoration and subsequent maintenance of the affected areas.
