Truck driver dies at steering wheel

A man died while driving a TIR truck on a Chisinau street, but managed to stop the vehicle and avoid tragedies. Eufalia Negreata, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Ambulance Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the 49-year-old man was driving a DAF truck on Negru-Voda St. His family was in the cab of the truck. At the intersection with Bacioi St, he suddenly turned the engine off, put his head on the steering wheel and died. His wife told the ambulance doctors her husband had complained of heart trouble during two days. A 26-year-old man living on Baltaci St died suddenly last night. The cause of death is being established. Doctors say he may have died of a cardiac disease or drugs overdose. A man aged 56 also died unexpectedly. A man, 22, fell from the roof of his house in Durlesti town. He was taken to the hospital with a cranial-cerebral trauma and a contusion. A woman, 52, took pills in order to kill herself, while another one, aged 29, cut her veins open after drinking alcohol for the same purpose. Yesterday and last night, the Chisinau Ambulance Service dealt with 860 calls, including 82 cases of trauma, four deaths, 28 deliveries and four strokes.
