Chisinau’s trolleybus depots experience a deficit of conductors. For now, the Chisinau Electric Transport Company (RTEC) administration says that it can handle the situation, since the number of working trolleybuses was reduced for the summer. The concern arises for the situation that may surface after September 1, when students and other categories of passengers will return to the capital.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, RTEC head Gheorghe Morgoci stated the in the three trolley fleets about 60 conductors are needed. A job listing note for conductors has been posted in most trolleybuses.
“There are not enough conductors, we are forced to take people right of the street or call the ones who are on vacation”, mentioned Gheorghe Morgoci. According to him, the situation will become difficult in about a month, when the number of active trolleybuses will be increased, and more conductors will be needed.
Morgoci added that a strong fluctuation is being observed for this position, all due to a number of factors that determine the employees to leave. Some try to con the administration, and are fired; other can’t resist and manage, because the job is rather difficult, there are all kinds of passengers.
The RTEC head mentioned that the salary of a conductor strats at 2,500 lei. It also depends on the number of tickets sold.
About 600 conductors are woking now in the capital’s three trolleybus depots.
