The occupancy rate during two weeks of the launch of the battery-powered trolleybuses that run on route No. 30 from the central square of the capital city up to the Chisinau International Airport was of 60%. Head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci anticipates the number of passengers will grow in autumn.

Contacted by IPN, Gheorghe Morgoci said the route is in demand and the occupancy rate of 60% is higher than the average for all the routes. When the new school year starts, the number of passengers will grow.

Veaceslav Gaina, manager of the minibus route No. 165, which also connects Chisinau and the airport, has told IPN that the launch of the new trolleybus route, up to the airport, didn’t change much the number of passengers who choose the minibus. Some categories of people probably travel by trolleybus, but the people mainly choose a faster unit of transport that does not stop often. Under the summer schedule, minibuses No. 165 run between 5:40am and 10pm.

The battery-powered trolleybuses running on route No. 30 set off from the station located on Banulescu-Bodoni St, not far from the monument to Stephan the Great, starting at 6am. The last trolleybus from Chisinau departs at 10:50pm, while from the airport at 11:20pm. The fare is 2 lei.
