As of August 1, 2017 the trolleybuses in Chisinau will run until 1am. A decision to this effect was taken by the votes of 26 councilors of Chisinau on July 18, IPN reports.
The draft decision provided that a fare of 6 lei will be charged for night trips by trolleybuses, but the councilors decided to keep the current fare of 2 lei.
The request to extend the schedule of public transport in Chisinau was made by inhabitants of the capital city who work late at night and cannot travel home by other units of transport.
Initially, it was proposed that the trolleybuses should run until 2am, but, based on the reports of the Electric Transport Company, it was established that the number of passengers decreased after 1am.
UPDATE Contacted by IPN, director of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said the decision adopted by the Municipal Council refers only to the eight trolleybuses that now run until 2am on routes No. 22 and 24, but on a trial basis. From August 1, they will run until 1am on a temporary basis.
