Next spring, the capital city will come into possession of 90 new trolleybuses that will be bought with a loan provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It may seem that this is an electoral move, but the talks with the Bank started two years ago, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said in the ordinary meeting of the City Hall on July 12, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In order to increase the number of participants in the tender contest for purchasing new trolleybuses, the participation conditions have been modified. The documents must be submitted within 45 days, while the trolleybuses must be supplied within 30 weeks. “The producer that will win the contest will assemble the trolleybuses specially for Chisinau, according to the City Hall's requirements,” Dorin Chirtoaca said.
Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said the contest participants must meet a number of conditions. The trolleybuses must have low floor, wheelchair access and three doors for entry and exit. The participants must have sold at least 250 trolleybuses. The first trolleybuses must be supplied next March, while the last – on the 30th week.
Grozavu also said that trolleybus constructors from Ukraine and Russia inquired about the tender contest so far, but the City Hall hopes there will appear European companies as well.
