Trolleybuses and busses in Chisinau get stuck because of rain

Owing to the heavy rain of the morning of June 3, a number of trolleybuses and buses in Chisinau were diverted to other routes, while some of them got stuck. The basements of some of the kindergartens were flooded. Owing to a power outage at a secondary school, the exam taking process was affected, officials of municipal services informed in the ordinary meeting held on Mondays, IPN reports.

Chisinau Electric Transport Company director Dorin Chernyi said the supply of electricity on Mitropolit Dosoftei St was interrupted at about 5am this morning owing to a flash of lightning. The trolleybuses could not leave depot No. 3 for approximately 20 minutes. Five trolleybuses remained blocked on Șoseaua Muncești St for about an hour. Trolleybuses No.7, 9 and 3 were diverted to other streets so as to avoid Uzinelor St where a number of units of transport got stuck and had to be towed away. A similar situation was witnessed on Calea Ieșilor St.  

Acting head of the Urban Bus Company Vitalie Copaci noted that owing to the water that accumulated on the streets, buses No. 19 were diverted, while buses No. 23 and 26 deviated from the schedule. The itinerary of buses No. 38 that travel to Cruzești village was shortened.

According to the head of Buiucani district Vadim Brînzaniuc, the technical floor of an apartment building situated on Alba Iulia St was flooded and a number of apartments were slightly affected. Owing to the large volumes of water on the street, the public transport could not travel further than Cornului St. At the intersection of the streets Calea Ieşilor and Yablochkin, the circulation of public transport was stopped. The basements of kindergartens No.164 and No. 183 were inundated. Secondary School No. 86 was disconnected from the supply of power and the process of taking the exam by ninth graders was affected.

In Centru district, a sewerage well collapsed on Lacului St, at the intersection with Vasile Alecsandri St. In Ciocanu district, problems appeared on Meșterul Manole St, where a large puddle appeared. In Râșcani district, Albișoara St was most seriously affected. A part of this street was muddied.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, a private gardened in Măgdăcești village of Criuleni district was flooded following the torrential rain. In Porumbeni village of the same district, rescuers pumped water out of a yard, preventing the flooding of a house. In Strășeni town, water was pumped out of the Prosecutor’s Office.
