Trolleybus route No. 28, which connects Poșta Veche quarter and Botanica district of Chisinau and goes along Columna St, become available. Six trolleybuses of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company will run on this route initially and the number of units of transport will be increased depending on demand, IPN reports.
In the launch, Mayor General Ion Ceban said this is a new route that has been awaited by the citizens of Chisinau. A new contact line was built on a section of the route’s itinerary. The trolleybuses will run at an interval of 15 minutes.
Parking on the right side of Columna St near the pedestrian street Eugen Doga will be banned so as not to block the movement of public transport. According to the mayor, the people should follow the example of other capital cities where the use of personal cars downtown is not allowed. The concept regarding the organization of parking in central Chisinau will be presented soon.
Acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division Vitalie Mihalache noted that the network represents a project initiated in 2020 and its goal was to build a contact line on a distance of 2,200 linear meters. In parallel, the street lighting system was restored and about 40 lighting devices were set up there. The project was implemented at a cost of 8.3 million lei.
