Trolleybus Route to Agrarian University opens on June 1

On 1 June 2006, a trolleybus line linking the downtown of Chisinau with the Petricani district and, implicitly, with the State Agrarian University of Moldova is to be launched. The interim mayor, Vasile Ursu, made this promise at the joint meeting with the president, Vladimir Voronin, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev and decision-making bodies of the central and local administration. Even if the trolleybus route will be launched in 2 weeks, the works in this zone will continue, scheduled to be finished in August, the interim mayor noted. The head of Municipal Transport and Communications Department, Veaceslav Tarna, mentioned that until now the construction of the road is completed, a dispatchers’ office, a parking station, the contact network, the pillars and electricity lines were installed. On the whole, about 30 million lei were spent. At the same time, he highlighted, in order to finish the construction works of the road, stopping soil erosion, fitting the places and of crossing of the Petricani and Mihai Viteazul streets there will be spent other 30 million lei. The head of the municipal transporters does not know for the moment the number of trolleybuses to circulate on the route, as due to many versions discussed in this sense. According to him, it is not known the number of the route either. The construction works of the trolleybus lines to the Agrarian University started in September 2005.
