Trolleybus route No. 16, which ensures connection between Ciocana and Centru districts of Chisinau, was reopened on January 22. The Chisinau City Hall said the itinerary was modified so as to solve the problem of increased ridership in the area around the streets Maria Drăgan, Voluntarilor and Uzinelor, IPN reports.
The trolleybuses on route No. 16 will run at an interval of 20-25 minutes with a round trip of about 90 minutes. They will set off from 31 august 1989 St and will travel on the streets Alexandr Pushkin, Grigore Vieru, Renașterii Naționale, Kiev, Alecu Russo, Meșterul Manole, Vadul lui Vodă, Maria Drăgan, Voluntarilor, and Uzinelor (terminus).
When back, they will start from Uzinelor St and will run on the streets Voluntarilor, Maria Drăgan, Vadul lui Vodă, Meșterul Manole, Alecu Russo, Kiev, Renașterii Naționale, Grigore Vieru, Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni and 31 august 1989.
Four trolleybuses with last-generation batteries that enable to cover autonomously 30 km will run on this route. They feature air conditioning systems, internal surveillance cameras and USB sockets for travellers at each set of seats.
