Trolleybus fares in Tiraspol also go up

A trip by trolleybus in the Transnistrian town of Tiraspol costs 1.4 rubles from October 1, up 10 kopecks or 7% (1 leu = 0.8 rubles, e.n.). The fare on the Tiraspol – Bender interurban route was also raised. It is now 1.70 rubles, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports. The concessions for pensioners and other groups of people have not been yet annulled. The students pay 50% of the price of the ticket. The authorities argue that the Trolleybus Department suffers considerable losses. Presently, about 70% of the passengers benefit from different concessions. An 8% rise is planned for the next year. The trolleybus fare in Chisinau was raised from 1 leu to 2 lei from October 1. The list of persons who travel free of charge was significantly reduced. The pensioners will have to pay for the trips by trolleybus, but will receive monthly compensations of 70 lei if their incomes do not exceed 1,450 lei.
