Tribute to Nistru War Veterans

Singer George Afroni has launched an audio CD with music dedicated to the Heroes of the Nistru War. The CD includes 15 songs composed also by George Afroni.
“There is a long time since I planned to issue this CD, but I faced many obstacles in my way. I managed to do it today and I really hope that everybody who was on the field of battle on those days will rediscover themselves in my songs”, George Afroni said at the his CD launching event, on June 19.
The event was supported by the Democratic Action Party. Mihai Godea, the head of the party, expressed criticized the political elite for failing to contribute to the release of such a CD.
The CD will be multiplied and released on the market at the end of August. George Afroni says that some songs will come with movie clips showing war scenes.
The armed conflict between the two banks of the river Nistru which involved massive participation of military forces, was preceded by numerous measures meant to break off the left bank from the former Moldovian Soviet Socialist Republic and afterwards from the territory of the Republic of Moldova. March 2, 1992 is the date when the war started and on July 21, 1992, in Moscow, the President of the Republic of Moldova and the President of the Russian Federation signed a ceasefire agreement. Negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict are still ongoing.
