The high temperatures cause damage to trees as well. Some of the trees cannot resist the heat. By at least two trees fell daily in Chisinau last week, IPN reports.
In the July 27 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, head of the Green Areas Association Eliferii Haruta said the most recent case occurred on a street in Botanica district last night. Two trees that fell on the street blocked traffic and left the people living nearby without electricity. They also damaged the fence of two private homes.
A yellow code advisory for hot weather was issued for July 27. Daytime temperatures in most of the districts will rise to 33-35 degrees Celsius. Last week Moldova was under an orange code warning as the temperatures exceeded 38 degrees Celsius.
