The Government decided to open talks with Ukraine over amendments to the agreement on visa-free travel for citizens, Info-Prim Neo reports. After the amendments are approved by both of the parties, the Moldovan minors will travel to Ukraine on the basis of the following documents and conditions: the personal Moldovan passport or the Moldovan passport of one of the parents, which includes the data of the minor, if he/she is younger than 7. The photo of the minors should be also included in the Moldovan passport of one of the parents if they are aged between 7 and 16. The traveling minors must be accompanied by at least one of the parents. If the minor travels with a companion, he/she will need the personal Moldovan passport and the declaration of the legal representative validated by the notary. The traveling minors that turned 14 and study at educational institutions of other countries will need the personal Moldovan passport, the certificate showing that they were admitted to the given institution and the declaration of the legal representative validated by the notary. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan said that the approval of the amendments and their inclusion in the annex to the mentioned agreement signed in 2001 will exclude the unpleasant cases reported this summer, when the families did not have the necessary documents and had to go back from the border, missing the opportunity to rest in Ukrainian holiday resorts. Stratan also said that the Moldovan authorities received complaints from co-nationals that return to Moldova on the basis of travel permits from third countries crossing Ukraine. Though the annex to the agreement says that the travel permit is a document that allows entering, crossing or going out of Ukraine, the Ukrainian authorities ask for additional confirmations. In order to remedy such a problem, the Government of Moldova suggests formulating point 1.6 of the agreement this way: “travel permit for Moldova (only when crossing Ukraine to Moldova or when returning to Moldova from third countries.”
