The cab drivers should be obliged to have cash registers and issue the travelers with a receipt at the end of each trip. Such a proposal was formulated in a meeting that involved representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, the National Auto Transport Agency and members of the Auto Taxi Carriers Association.

The representatives of the National Auto Transport Agency asked that the extract from the Register of Road Transport Operators should be issued only after the vehicle is outfitted with a cash register. They also proposed that the Transport Code should be amended so that the violation of the rules of using units of transport is punished with the confiscation of the license plate for 30 days on the first violation and for 180 days on the second violation of the kind.

In a press release quoted by IPN, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure says the travelers should use the services of taxi companies that work legally, have cash registers and yellow license plates and should ask for the receipt. This way they will directly contribute to fighting the illegal taxi transportation activities that affect the passengers’ safety and increase unfair competition.
