The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory for Lebanon and the Middle East region in connection with the worrisome security situation in the Lebanese Republic. “We strongly recommend that you avoid travel to the southern areas of the Lebanese Republic (the region south of the Litani River), due to the high risk of terrorist attacks. If you are already in these localities, we advise you to leave the area immediately,” reads a press release of the Ministry.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Lebanon based in Ankara, the military confrontations in the border area between Lebanon and Israel have intensified significantly in recent weeks, following the attacks launched by the armed groups.
Citizens are advised to always carry their original travel documents with them. “Be especially careful and cautious when you are near Palestinian refugee camps, where the situation can be unpredictable. Strictly follow the instructions and recommendations of the local authorities and security forces. Cooperation with them is essential for your safety. Avoid participating in demonstrations and large gatherings. They can become violent quickly and without warning, putting you in danger,” runs the press release.
At the same time, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are on the mentioned territory and need to be consulted on consular matters are urged to contact the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Turkey (accredited for Lebanon): ankara@mfa.gov.md, https://turcia.mfa.gov.md or on the telephone number: +905416872104, 24/7.
