Transport businesses were proposed to be removed from Free Economic Zones (FEZs). The initiative was voiced during a work meeting for the improvement of activity conditions in FEZs. The meeting was summoned by Liberal-Democratic MP Veaceslav Ionita, head of the commission for economy, budget and finance, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release of the PLDM group, the proposal to remove transport businesses is determined by the opening of the free international port and airport, which rendered these businesses inopportune in FEZs. The initiative authors propose to allow goods to be taken outside FEZs into the rest of Moldova’s customs territory for participation in exhibitions, fairs, meetings or other similar events, or for testing, verifications and repairs, without a customs declaration but with the guarantee to return them in 30 days. Another proposal is to increase from €300 to €1000 the maximum value of goods allowed to be introduced daily in FEZs in non-commercial purposes, without customs declarations. The initiative also allows transactions in foreign currency between FEZ members because the recent years’ practice showed an increase in the deliveries of goods inside FEZs. The residents and administrations of free zones complained that some provisions of the Customs Code contradict other relevant legislation, so that it was decided to make some changes.
