Transparency and responsibility, alongside the eradication of corruption from the public system, are the Government’s key commitments before the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița stated in the OGP Global Summit that was at its seventh edition. The event was held online and this year was hosted by the Republic of Korea, IPN reports, quoiting the Government’s press service.

The Premier said digitization is another priority of the Government of the Republic of Moldova. “The use of digital solutions should be a norm in the relations of the state with the citizens, business community and civil society. The digitization of public services will increase transparency, being an excellent instrument for alleviating the risk of corruption,” stated Natalia Gavrilița.

According to the official, the government named a deputy prime minister responsible exclusively for digitization. Currently, the authorities are working out the legal framework that will facilitate online interaction with the public institutions and will mostly exclude the necessity of presenting paper documents.

“We care now in the process of reviewing and updating the National Sustainable Development Strategy “Moldova 2030” and public functionaries work closely with civil society experts on this important project. The same approach is used by ministries in the process of working out policies,” said the Premier, noting that the measures taken to contain the COVID-19 pandemic were first discussed with representatives of the business community.

The Open Government Partnership Global Summit brought together heads of government of a number of states and representatives of civil society who analyzed the OGP progress and set new priorities for the next decade.
