Transparency International–Moldova organizes anti-corruption day in Floresti

Transparency International–Moldova (TI-Moldova) has organized an Anti-corruption Day in Floresti town, supported by its mayor Iurie Tap, Info-Prim Neo reports. The event included a series of activities: the seminar “Promoting the ethical conduct in the public service – a way of preventing corruption”, debates about this subject and showing TI – Moldova’s film “Touching the conflict of interest in the public service”. 40 employees of the local public administration attended. About 100 representatives of the civil society from the town participated in the seminar on petitions as a form of preventing corruption, organized with the goal of increasing the capacities of the civil society to defend their constitutional rights. The expert of TI-Moldova’s Hot Line offered legal consulting to citizens. The representatives of TI – Moldova participated in two broadcasts entitled: “Corruption in the fiscal system” and “How can corruption be eradicated in the educational system,” transmitted by the TV stations Flor-TV. The broadcast has reflected the results of TI – Moldova’s researches regarding perceptions and experiences of households and businessmen about corruption in Moldova, as well as the perception of the interest conflict in the public service. The organization has expressed its objections and proposals about the anti-corruption legal framework, it discussed about the work of the TI-Moldova’s hot line and they formulated solutions to improve the situation in these areas. TI-Moldova has donated Flor-TV two educational films to familiarize the public from Floresti with the international practices of preventing corruption through promoting the ethic conduct and tackling the conflict of interest in the public service. TI-Moldova has made a donation of its publications to 8 public libraries from the town, it has staged an exhibition of anti-corruption cartoons and aired televised anti-corruption spots. TI-Moldova is a national branch of the world anti-corruption organization Transparency International and was registered on June 14, 2000. One of the main priorities of TI-Moldova is promoting the anti-corruption movement, convening the most active personalities, known in the country as promoters of the principles of transparency and democracy.
