Transparency International – Moldova uses 177,000 euros in 2008

Transparency International – Moldova used 177.2 thousand euros in 2008, executive director of the organization Lilia Carasciuc stated, making the balance sheet of the organization’s activities at a news conference at Info-Prim Neo News Agency, on February 25. TI–Moldova accomplished 4 researches; it organized 169 seminars for civil servants, businessmen and representatives of the civil society; it trained 17 trainers in territories; it examined 18 draft laws and other normative anti-corruption acts. Lilia Carasciuc said that “TI–Moldova participated in monitoring the implementation of the National Strategy on Preventing and Fighting Corruption and in monitoring the implementation of the Country Threshold Program in the tax system. It set up a hot line, which offered advice to 1,165 citizens.” To support investigative journalists, Transparency International – Moldova worked out a handbook on the investigative journalism, it organized lectures on investigative journalism in 3 universities, it organized a contest for journalists entitled “Covering corruption in the printed press” and published the compilation of investigation articles “Journalists against corruption” (volume 5). TI–Moldova continued the work of civic education for diminishing tolerance toward corruption: it produced the movie “Transparency vs. political corruption,” it participated in TV and radio broadcasts, it has aired promotional clips, it disseminated Informative Bulletins, it organized anti-corruption caricature exhibitions and the concert “No Corruption.” The NGO donated over 11 thousand books to the Moldovan libraries. The NGO dealing with combating and fighting corruption specified the donors: Novib Oxfam, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the TI Secretariat and it showed the way of using these means.
