The Moldovan side will take an appropriate attitude if it is proven that the chairman of the Russian State Duma Boris Gryzlov sent a congratulatory message to Transnistria (on the occasion of 21 years of the proclamation of the self-claimed republic – e.n.), Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “We will establish if this message was really sent or it is only a production of the Tiraspol authorities. If the telegram had been sent, we will take an appropriate attitude,” said the minister. Iurie Leanca said that Moldova’s position on the breakaway republic remains unchanged, as the stance of the international community. “We do not recognize and will not recognize it. It is Chisinau’s position. It is the position of the entire international community. What happens there is the product of Transnistrian leader’s imagination. I hope they will realize that the world changed in these 20 years and it’s time to overcome these stereotypes of the cold war and the stereotypes that they implanted in their minds. They should realize that Transnistria’s future is only within the independent Moldova,” said Iurie Leanca. The Transnistrian press reported that the chairman of the Russian State Duma Boris Gryzlov this week has congratulated the Supreme Soviet head Anatoli Kaminski on the celebration of Transnistria’s independence. The portal dniester.ru said this gesture comes amid Moscow’s efforts to promote Anatol Kaminski in the presidential elections in Transnistria, to the detriment of the current leader Igor Smirnov. According to the portal, in his letter Boris Gryzlov speaks about a new stage in the modernization of Transnistria and voices hope that the initiatives of the legislature headed by Anatol Kaminski will bring about changes. The presidential elections in Transnistria will be held in December. On September 2, the secessionist republic marks 21 years of the proclamation of its independence.
