The citizens of the Transnistrian region remain still do not have running hot water. The local administration explained that this is due to the limited volume of gas, IPN reports.

The press in the region reported that during 24 hours, the left bank of the Nistru uses around 3 million cubic meters of natural gas for domestic use.

On January 1, the Russian company Gazprom stopped supplying gas to the Transnistrian region and, as a result, around 1,500 apartment buildings on the left bank of the Nistru were disconnected from the supply of heat and no longer receive hot water. Another almost 72,000 private homes were left without gas.

For a month, during which Tiraspol refused to have a dialogue, the Transnistrian citizens stayed not only in the cold, but also in the darkness, without electricity for five hours a day. At the end of January, Chisinau announced that the European Union decided to provide €20 million to purchase gas for the left bank. Since February 14, gas for the region has been delivered by the Hungarian company MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG. Transit costs are paid by Tiraspoltransgaz in advance.

The solution was identified after the left bank of the Nistru refused the European Union's offer of €60 million to overcome the energy crisis. The local leader Vadim Krasnoselsky announced that the Transnistrian region pays for gas with funds from a Russian loan.
