The voters living in the Transnistrian region, the municipality of Bender and a number of villages of Causeni district, who will be in Chisinau on the referendum day, will be able to vote at polling place No. 113, on 48 Vlaicu Parcalab St. The Central Election Commission (CEC) adopted a decision on the participation of the residents of these settlements in the September 5 referendum on August 13, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The ballots of the Transnistrians will be collected in a special box. In order to be allowed to vote, these persons must have documents showing they have the domicile in the mentioned settlements.
The Commission’s decision says that besides polling place No. 113 in Chisinau, 11 polling stations will be opened for Transnistrians in the settlements that are under the control of the Moldovan constitutional authorities.
CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan requested the Ministry of the Interior to take steps and ensure the security of the persons who will vote at those polling places.
“The CEC calls on the national and international monitors and the Joint Control Commission to supervise the electoral process there and make sure that it runs smoothly,” Iurie Ciocan said.
