The Moldovan delegation in the Joint Control Commission (JCC) proposed to set up a joint station of Moldovan policemen and Transnistrian militsia officers in Dorotcaia village, as a solution for tense situation caused by the close adjacency of the Moldovan and Transnistrian law-enforcing structures based at the entrance in the village. The proposal has been rejected by the Transnistrian party, who consider a joint station would be totally non-functional, Info-Prim Neo reports. The stations' adjacency has led to numerous conflicts between Moldovan policemen and customs officers with their Transnistrian counterparts. Creating the joint station will leads to enhance the trust between the sides, the Moldovan delegation argues. On the other hand, the Transnistrian delegation says the vicinity of the stations is a destabilizing factor, but does not think a joint post to be a way out. “Moldova has a kind of legislation, but we have another type of legislation – oriented toward Russia,” argued Oleg Belyakov, the JCC co-chairman representing Transnistria, quoted by the Transnistrian news agency Olvia-press. Immediately after the war in 1992, we tried to set up a joint investigation group but it lasted for a week only, Belyakov says. According to the Moldovan Defense Ministry, the Transnistrian delegation rejected the proposal to pull back its customs office and to replace it with a peace-keeping post. The Transnistrians argue they observed the JCC decision of October 2004, made after a conflict. The Transnistrian side insists that Moldova withdraws its police station at least at 50 meters from its customs station. The proposal of the Moldovan delegation at the previous sitting concerning the withdrawal of all the posts at the entrance in Dorotcaia for three months did not get the support of the Transnistrian and Russian delegation. Neither the proposal of the Ukrainian representatives to sent a written application to the Chisinau and Tiraspol leaderships to replace the posts at the entrance was supported by the Transnistrian delegation. The examination of the Dorotcaia posts has been adjourned for the next sitting of the JCC.
